Avnet étend son offre virtualisation en Europe grâce à un accord de distribution avec VMware en Turquie
Istanbul, 16 avril 2010:
Avnet Technology Solutions' to provide partners in Turkey with energy-efficient virtualization solutions
At a press conference in Istanbul today, Avnet Technology Solutions announced the latest expansion to its European virtualization portfolio. As the solutions distribution leader and an operating group of Avnet, Inc. (NYSE:AVT), Avnet Technology Solutions entered into a new distribution relationship in Turkey with VMware, Inc. (NYSE: VMW), the global leader in virtualization solutions from the desktop through the data center and to the cloud.
This announcement marked the second European expansion of Avnet’s VMware relationship in March. Earlier in the month, Avnet announced it will distribute VMware solutions in Romania. Avnet began its distribution relationship with VMware in the United States in 2007, which has since expanded to include Eastern European support for channel partners in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania and now Turkey.
Senior executives from Avnet and VMware detailed the benefits of virtualization during the press conference on the expanded relationship. They also discussed how Avnet will help value-added reseller partners in Turkey to provide virtualization solutions that enable enterprise and small- to mid-sized (SMB) customers to conserve energy, reduce capital and operating expenses, improve agility, ensure business continuity and strengthen security.
“Virtualization is transforming the way companies build and maintain their IT infrastructure,” said Cem Aşık, General Manager of Avnet Technology Solutions Turkey. “However, a virtualized IT environment requires advanced implementation and management skills. Our channel partners can play a significant role in helping their customers identify the complete, VMware-based virtualization solutions that are the best fit for their organizations and provide them with significant benefits, such as cost savings and increased productivity. Avnet Turkey, will be a key player to introduce VMware’s brand new solutions like “desktop virtualization” to enable new frontiers in mobility. Avnet has proven expertise in working with VMware’s channel partners around the globe to help them grow their virtualization business and deliver virtualization solutions that improve their customers’ infrastructure.”
“VMware solutions provide our customers with tangible business benefits,” said Michael Hillewaert, Eastern Region Director of VMware, during the press conference. “It’s critical that our reseller partners understand the impact virtualization can have on their customers’ IT environments and we are able to help them realize these benefits. We have an established relationship with Avnet in several Eastern European markets; with their deep technical and market knowledge they can educate our Turkish partners and help accelerate our growth in the market. “
Companies throughout Europe are turning to virtualization as a green technology for their data centers because of the energy savings associated with virtualized desktops, servers and storage,” said Mickey Bharat, Director of Independent Software, Avnet Technology Solutions EMEA. “Customers can save costs equivalent to one server every three years just by utilizing virtualized servers. Avnet’s channel partners can use virtualization to not only help their customers realize cost-savings, but also make their IT infrastructure more environmentally friendly. Avnet also works with our channel partners to help position their customers to take advantage of IT advancements related to virtualization, such as cloud computing.”
Cloud computing is changing the way IT resources are utilized. VMware’s leading technology enables companies to transform their datacenters into an internal cloud – a pool of virtualized resources within a datacenter – and seamlessly leverage external cloud providers within the private cloud to increase flexibility and reduce costs to their business. The new relationship between Avnet and VMware helps companies in Turkey make investments in technologies now that prepare them for the future use of innovative solutions, such as cloud computing.
