John Toal
UK Country Manager Avnet Technology Solutions
John Toal is responsible for the strategic direction and profitable growth of Avnet’s value added IT solutions distribution business in the UK and Ireland. Toal joined Avnet Technology Solutions in July 2010 following Avnet’s acquisition of Bell Microproducts where he was President Europe.
Toal joined Bell Micro in 2004 as Enterprise Sales Director following the acquisition by Bell Micro of Open PSL. In this role he was responsible for the integration of the OpenPSL into Bell Micro UK, the continued growth of the business and the addition of new vendors and services to the enterprise product portfolio.
In 2008 he was promoted to President Europe where he focused on building a strong European team to deliver a profitable business during the global economic downturn. Key to this plan was to drive growth in both the commercial and enterprise markets that Bell Micro addressed across 7 countries and working to ensure that Bell Micro has excellent customer and vendor relationships.
Toal’s career in IT began with PSL in 1988 where he joined as one of their first sales recruits. By 1992 he had been promoted to Sales Manager during a time when the business had begun to grow rapidly. In 1998 and as a member of the management team, he was instrumental in the Management Buyout of PSL from P&P Group. As a Board member in the new organisation John was responsible for sales and marketing and played a major role in the acquisition of Open Computing in 2000 which resulted in the creation of Open PSL.
