Avnet Technology Solutions to Distribute Samsung Ubigate™ iBG series

Avnet Technology Solutions, an operating group of global technology distributor Avnet, Inc. (NYSE:AVT), has been appointed the sole UK distributor of the Samsung Ubigate^TM iBG series, a converged data, voice, security and mobility enterprise networking platform.  The new voice and data convergence gateway is designed to help business partners spread their expertise across multiple applications.  Avnet partners who previously only sold data or voice solutions can now easily expand into new markets selling combined data and voice solutions.

Avnet has also partnered with Samsung to enable business partners to offer Samsung Hosted Communications. Samsung Hosted Communications uses Ubigate to provide data switching, routing and gateway functionality required to interface Samsung Hosted IP Telephony service or IP based Telephony applications to the business network and any existing PBX's. 

The Ubigate iBG2006, iBG2016 and iBG 3026 are designed for small to medium-size businesses or branch offices of larger enterprises.  The Ubigate series enables a simple, complete network infrastructure by converging routing, switching and security into a single, easy-to-manage platform including VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol).

Avnet was chosen as the sole distributor in the UK for the Ubigate series because of its extensive presence within the data business partner channel where this new converged, intelligent business gateway will be most attractive.  Matthew Gower, vice president of sales, UK and Nordic at Avnet Technology Solutions, said, "Ultimately the division between voice and data will disappear.  Therefore it is an advantage for data business partners to put a toe in the water in terms of voice with protocols they already understand and with the Samsung brand, which is trusted and recognised by customers.
