Avnet Technology Solutions Expands Its Unified Communications Solutions with Xrio

Avnet Technology Solutions, the solutions distribution leader and an operating group of Avnet, Inc. (NYSE:AVT), has signed a new distribution agreement with Xrio, a leading developer of Internet bandwidth bonding solutions. Xrio’s Unified Bandwidth Management (UBM) devices and solutions will be available to value-added reseller partners in the UK as a part of Avnet’s Unified Communications practice. This practice enables VARs to bring multiple communications technologies together, such as fixed and mobile telephony, video conferencing, e-mail, instant messaging and voice messaging, into one coordinated communications environment without the need to replace an entire communications infrastructure.

Xrio’s UBM solutions integrate circuit bonding, load balancing and bandwidth management technology into a single, highly-intelligent appliance to provide a centralised and cost-effective solution for converged IT and telecom infrastructures. Avnet’s VARs will be able to offer their customers these hardware devices as a service or stand-alone appliance to suit most enterprise needs. UBM solutions from Xrio provide a range of benefits for businesses, including the ability to bond existing Internet connections (such as ADSL and 3G) to increase capacity, speed and quality. The devices also provide load balancing and automatic failover in the event of an ISP failure. Through the new relationship, Avnet’s VARs can offer varying levels of connectivity at a lower cost than that of leased lines or similar technologies, with added benefits to their customers’ businesses such as bandwidth control, compression and failover.

Xrio’s solutions complement Avnet’s solutions-driven approach to unified communications, as they can be quickly and easily implemented into a new or existing IT infrastructure and will enable Avnet’s VARs to expand their offering to customers who want to manage costs while maintaining a highly adaptable network.
