Accelerating the Value of Cloud Computing and Smarter Computing.

This month, IBM escalated its cloud computing position with the 12th October announcement of new solutions, capabilities and cloud computing thought leadership.

SmartCloud Enterprise (SCE) is IBM's public cloud offering designed to provide rapid access to security-rich, enterprise-class virtual servers, operating systems middleware and other services, ideally suited for development and test activities and other dynamic workloads.

In addition to a broad set of new capabilities, the release of IBM SmartCloud Enterprise is available as a white label option or OEM-like arrangement where the Business Partner contracts for services that they then bundle as part of their own solution.

It’s not all about cloud, a series of new and enhanced systems and capabilities are now available to help clients accelerate the journey to smarter computing. Announcements include:

• Storage Efficiency - IBM is delivering storage systems that analyse, adapt to, and improve application performance with unmatched ease of use. New storage systems being introduced include the Storwize V7000 Unified, the most advanced mid-range storage server ever built, the IBM System Storage DS8800 enterprise disk storage system, and XIV Gen3 with support for three terabyte drives
• Business Analytics - IBM is delivering new business analytics and reporting services faster with the introduction of new, all-in-one cost-effective analytics systems across System x, Power and System z platforms
• Optimised Systems - IBM is introducing both systems and software that are workload optimized to improve economics, performance and utilisation rates, including Windows support for the zEnterprise BladeCenter Extension (zBX) offering, two new entry-level Systems x servers, enhancements to the Power Systems lineup, and improved Systems Director software and System Networking capabilities
• Financing available - IBM Global Financing can enable cloud and smarter computing adoption by turning upfront costs into affordable monthly payments with rates as low as zero percent financing on software and low interest leases and loans for hardware, software and services. Act now to help your clients acquire the technology they need today without impacting on their current budget by offering a no payments until 2012 deferral option.
