Symantec New Products & Updates

• Veritas Storage Foundation™ High Availability Solutions 5.1:  available from 7th November 2011

Symantec is announcing Veritas Storage Foundation™ High Availability Solutions 5.1 for Linux on IBM® Power (replacing version 5.0). This new version combines the industry-leading Veritas™ Volume Manager, Veritas™ File System and Veritas™ Cluster Server - providing complete, heterogeneous online availability and storage management. SFHA customers have standard, flexible tools to manage data growth, maximise storage investments, and provide high availability.

Storage Foundation for DB2®, Storage Foundation for Oracle® and Storage Foundation for Sybase® are being eliminated and their functionality is being incorporated in Storage Foundation.

• Symantec™ Message Filter 6.3: available from 3rd October 2011

Symantec is announcing Symantec™ Message Filter 6.3 (replacing Symantec Brightmail™ Message Filter 6.2). This product provides accurate, effective, and easy-to-manage protection against spam, viruses, and phishing at the SMTP gateway for service provider and OEM customers. The award-winning antispam protection defends against current attacks in real-time and proactively identifies emerging spam attacks. With a spam effectiveness rate of over 99% and very few false positives, the solution ensures that end-users don’t miss legitimate email.  Find out more +

• Symantec™ FileStore 5.7:  available from 3rd October 2011

Symantec™ FileStore 5.7 (replacing Symantec™ FileStore 5.6) is a highly scalable, high performance clustered NAS solution that addresses current data centre challenges such as Virtualisation, Cloud Computing, Media and Information Management. FileStore 5.7 release has two major new features: Primary Storage Deduplication, and Support for VMware environments (Storage optimised, fast virtual machine cloning, vCenter plug-in and support for large VDI environment by effective use of the memory and deduplication). In addition, major emphasis has been on simplifying the administration by providing an AD wizard, one command replication failover. Find out more +
 

• Symantec™ Protection for SharePoint® Servers 6.0:  available from 7th November 2011

Symantec™ Protection for SharePoint® Servers 6.0 (replacing version 5.1) provides detection, removal, and repair of viruses, spyware, and other threats. Using Symantec's proven antivirus technologies, it quickly scans files in real time as they are uploaded and downloaded on SharePoint server.
 
On 1st October 2011, Symantec Protection 5x for Sharepoint Servers will reach End of Life (EOL) and End of Availability (EOA). Any orders placed on or after 1st October 2011 will be fulfilled by Symantec Protection 6.0 for Sharepoint Servers on 7th November 2011.

• Symantec™ ApplicationHA 6.0:  available from 7th November 2011

Symantec is announcing Symantec™ ApplicationHA 6.0 - an easy to deploy solution that provides high availability for business-critical applications through application visibility and control in VMware® environments. New to this version is vSphere® 5 support and integration with Symantec Backup Exec™, providing capabilities to trigger Backup Exec virtual machine recovery.
   

• Architect your customers private cloud: available December 2011

Veritas Storage FoundationTM and VeritasTM Cluster Server from Symantec allow you to build resilient private clouds by transforming a customers existing infrastructure and enabling IT as a Service. Storage infrastructure is automatically optimised through deduplication and compression at the file system level, and capacity can be reclaimed or provisioned from a single pool of thinly provisioned storage resources, increasing efficiency and reducing cost. • Symantec™ Mail Security for Domino® Multi Platform Edition 8.0: discontinued from 3rd October 2011

Symantec is announcing the discontinuation of Symantec™ Mail Security for Domino® Multi Platform Edition 8.0. This discontinuation became effective on 3rd October 2011 and eligible customers with current maintenance and support for Symantec Mail Security for Domino Multi Platform Edition will now have the option to migrate to Symantec™ Mail Security for Domino® 8.0 and associated maintenance and support.

• Symantec™ Business Critical Services Advanced: discontinued

Symantec is also announcing the discontinuation of Symantec™ Business Critical Services Advanced.

• Symantec Backup Exec™ 2010: price increase from 7th November 2011

Symantec is announcing a price increase to the renewal SKUs for Symantec Backup Exec™ 2010. This price increase will become effective on 7th November 2011.
