Server Based Computing

The success of Server Based Computing relies on the intelligent way it is able to provide users (regardless of their location) with optimal access to a centrally held pool of applications and licences. Both data and applications are administered centrally on optimised server infrastructure, protecting the data against unauthorised access. Removing the need to save data on user’s local devices also eliminates any risk of sensitive data being mislaid.
Instead of traditional PCs, users work from Thin Client devices. These use vastly less power compared to their PC equivalents and so offer a greener and lower cost solution. Thin Clients are normally used in Terminal Services type environments, but they can also be used in a virtualisation scenario such as VDI, to offer alternative methods of delivering applications to the desktop.
