FC 201: QLogic Technical Overview
This short class provides the learner with information about working with QLogic Products and the resources available for Field Engineers, System Engineers and others needing technical support. The course continues with a quick overview of Fibre Channel and SAN basics to ensure there is a common framework for discussing Fibre Channel technology and terms.
FC 202: QLogic Fibre Channel HBAs
FC 202 includes installation, configuration and management of QLogic FC Host Bus Adapter products. The learner will understand the technical aspects of the feature-rich QLogic FC Host Bus Adapter and will manage the FC HBA utilizing 3 tools. Lab exercises for Fast!UTIL, SANsurfer FC HBA Manager, and SANblade Command Line Interface (SCLI) will introduce the learner to the multiple methods of configuration and management of the FC HBA. 75% Lab
FC 203: QLogic Fibre Channel Edge Switches
FC 203 encompasses building and configuring Fibre Channel fabrics utilizing the SANbox family of switches including the industry’s first stackable Fibre Channel switches, the SANbox 5000 Series. Utilizing both QuickTools™ and Enterprise Fabric Suite™ the learner will learn how to install, configure and manage the SANbox fabrics through a Graphical User Interface environment. Included features, such as Auto-Trunking and I/O Stream Guard are demonstrated with licensable features such as Fabric Security and SANdoctor™ in lab exercises. After practical exercises to demonstrate zoning, the Command Line Interface is introduced. 65% Lab
FC 209: QLogic Director Class Switches
Once the learner is familiar with the configuration and management of QLogic fabrics utilizing QuickTools, EFS and the CLI; FC 209 dives into the technical aspects of the SANbox 9100 and SANbox 9200 Core switches. Lab exercises include making the SANbox 9200 Fault Tolerant and testing the failover of the CPU modules within the unit. Also introduced is the HyperStack™ feature, which allows two SANbox 9200 units to be stacked together to create a port density of 256 ports in 8 rack units. 60% Lab
Certification Exam
The certification tests (given at the end of the class) consist entirely of practical exercises designed to test the “real-world” capability of the learner to install, configure and manage a QLogic Fibre Channel Fabric.
This course focuses on QLogic 2 and 4 Gigabit Fibre Channel products and is targeted at support engineers, consultants, and technical professionals. It can also serve as a relevant refresher course to technical professionals who have been involved in Fibre Channel networking and is a requirement for the QLogic Signature VAR Technical Certification.
Prerequisites:Basic knowledge of Fibre Channel and storage devices is required. To further prepare yourself, please consider taking FC 101 - Networked Storage Concepts and FC 102 - QLogic Fibre Channel Products.
