Avnet Technology Solutions is IBM's largest global business partner, covering the entire STG and SWG portfolio. With the arrival of PureSystems, Avnet sees a great opportunity for its partners and has the right structure in place to support the channel in developing this exciting new solution area.

Sales resource available

Avnet has 11 external account managers 100% dedicated to IBM. This team carries expertise in all brands (hardware/software) across existing, development and acquisition accounts. The entire external team have been trained in the PureSystems products and each individual has specific goals to engage their respective business partners to develop PureSystems pipeline. We have an ongoing programme of further training and education for the entire external and internal sales teams.

Alongside the IBM sales team, Avnet has a dedicated business development team aligned with IBM brands. Within this team Craig Cannon has specific responsibilty to drive PureSystems as a brand, but Avnet recognises the opportunity to leverage key brand expertise and has aligned further resource into a PureSystems team.

Technical and demo resource available

The core support team consists of five pre-sales consultants, two of which have participated in the T3 events in Orlando and have been continuously engaged in Partner enablement and readiness activities.

Avnet has created a product champion who will be supported by subject matter experts in their relevant fields of Power, x86, V7000 and networking.

Avnet has an unparalleled record of providing demonstrations and proof of concepts to its business partners and their downstream customers. THE [resource] covers all IBM technologies including Power AIX, Power i, System x, Storage (including V7000 and XIV), and integration with many ISV applications.

The latest addition to THE [resource] is a PureFlex Standard Edition foundation model. This includes multiple x86 compute nodes and multiple Power compute nodes. The reasoning behind this investment was to allow for Avnet to demonstrate the full functionality of a PureFlex implementation, providing the ability to demonstrate partition mobility on the Power compute nodes and also vmotion and live migration on the x86 compute nodes, and Cloud deployment using Smart Cloud Entry.
