Informix Dynamic Server (IDS)

Informix Dynamic Server (IDS) is an enterprise class relational database management system designed for multi-processor (SMP) environments. If you are not deploying IDS in this type of environment you should question whether you need the computing overhead of running an enterprise class relational database management server at all. IDS is the fastest and most hardware efficient RDBMS on the market, but it still has a disk footprint of 300+ Mb. Its reliability and low maintenance is legendary, but it may still require occasional maintenance.
