Symantec™ OpsCenter Analytics

Symantec™ OpsCenter Analytics facilitates management of critical backup and archive operations with advanced business-context reporting, trend analyses, and predictive forecasting across backup, recovery and archive platforms. OpsCenter Analytics normalises information across a range of products including Symantec NetBackup, Backup Exec, PureDisk, and Enterprise Vault as well as EMC NetWorker, and IBM Tivoli Storage Manager. OpsCenter Analytics enables IT organisations and Service Providers to establish and verify service levels and ensure that all stakeholders’ needs are met with relevant business context. By simplifying the monitoring and reporting of IT service levels, organisations can better align backup and archive operations with their budgets and business goals.

What’s new:
A “CAL” (Client Access License) will now be defined as a computer that has been backed up in the last 30 days by any data protection software from which data is collected. The CAL count is then an aggregation of each computer (commonly referred to as “backup client”). Previously, there was no timeline of “last 30 days” and computers which had been backed up and retired/decommissioned - for which data had been collected – would count towards the overall “CAL” count.

Computers that are “virtualised” through VMWare or V-Sphere will no longer be counted as a “CAL” if they are configured to be backed up through the VCB process (VMWare Consolidated Backup). Instead, each ESX server that hosts the virtual clients will count as a CAL. There have been no other functionality changes. OpsCenter Analytics provides the same multi-product and platform support, business reporting, and complete customisation as Backup Reporter 6.6.
