Veritas Storage Foundation™ & High Availability Solutions for Windows® 6.0

Veritas Storage Foundation & High Availability 6.0 for Windows is a comprehensive solution that delivers data and application availability for Microsoft® Windows Server 2008 environments. Veritas Storage Foundation HA combines two industry-leading technologies: Veritas Storage Foundation for Windows, and Veritas™ Cluster Server. Veritas Storage Foundation for Windows provides online storage management, enabling high availability of data and optimized I/O performance across multiple hardware platforms. Veritas Cluster Server monitors an application and all associated components, including database, network, and storage resources. If a failure is detected, Veritas Cluster Server gracefully shuts down the application along with relevant resources and restarts it on an available physical or virtual server. When combined with Veritas Storage Foundation, Veritas Cluster Server provides fast failover of applications, typically within seconds, irrespective of storage configuration size.

The Dynamic Multi-Pathing (DMP) Option will be discontinued and will now be included in all Standard licenses
FlashSnap and Cluster Option for Microsoft Cluster will no longer be available as individual options; they will only be available via Enterprise bundle licenses. A new feature, Fast Failover, will also be available via Enterprise licenses
Disaster Recovery for Hyper-V is a new solution that will be available with Veritas Cluster Server (VCS) HA/DR. A separate license is required for each Hyper-V host that can host protected virtual machines.

Upgrade Information

Free of Charge Upgrade: Existing Veritas Storage Foundation & High Availability Solutions 5.x for Windows customers with active maintenance are eligible to upgrade to Veritas Storage Foundation & High Availability Solutions 6.0 for Windows.

Note: Functionality will be limited to what was supported by the previous version and its license key. New functionality, such as fast failover, will require a v6.0 license key.
